Get to know Dr. Emanuele:

Dr. Ashley Emanuele opened Oak City Aquatics Mobile Veterinary Service in June 2021, NC's first aquatics-exclusive mobile veterinary practice. In 2016, she became North Carolina's first Certified Aquatic Veterinarian, a distinction provided by the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association. (At this time, there are less than 100 CertAqV's in the world!) Her main professional interests are in the nutrition, ophthalmology, surgery, and preventative care of aquatic species. Dr. Emanuele received her DVM from NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine, and a B.S. in Marine Biology from Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. She's spent her fair share of time plumbing and cleaning tanks, designing nutrition plans, and working with many aquatic species both in college and as the Aquatics Technician at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. Dr. Emanuele is a member of the executive board of the American Association of Fish Vets, serves on the AVMA's Animal Welfare Committee, and teaches and mentors fellow veterinarians about fish medicine.
